We tested the most popular budget laptops available in Uyo. Here's our honest breakdown of performance, build quality, and value for money.
The budget laptop market in Nigeria has never been better. Prices have stabilised, and you can now get a genuinely capable machine for under ₦400,000 if you know what to look for. We put five of the most popular options through their paces.
Coming in at number one is the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 — an unassuming machine that punches well above its price point. The Ryzen 5 chip handles multitasking smoothly, and the battery regularly hits 7–8 hours of real-world use. Build quality is plastic but solid.
The HP 255 G9 takes second place for pure reliability. HP's after-sales service in Nigeria is more accessible than most brands, which matters when something goes wrong. Performance is adequate for office work and light creative tasks.
Dell's Inspiron 15 3000 rounds out the top three. It's the most recognisable brand at this price point, and resale value holds better than most. The display is a weak point — colour accuracy isn't great — but for documents and browsing, it's more than sufficient.
The Acer Aspire 5 and ASUS VivoBook 15 both earned mentions for their display quality at the price. If you spend long hours looking at a screen, these two offer noticeably better panels than the competition.
